WHY SHOULD I CARE ABOUT SPIRITUAL WARFARE?
Ephesians 6:10 - 18
by Rev. Margaret Aranda, MD, Ph.D.

WELCOME! Today we have a special topic for the disabled, because we live in a world that is surrounded by evil spirits ruled by Satan, and all they do is seek who they can devour and destroy. We want to educate you, arm you, and let you know the rules of this warfare, because whether or not you “believe” in it, it is still going on around and inside you!  Father, Lord, please help us. Open our eyes to the world of the spirits, so that we know that Christ has already defeated them. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

SCRIPTURE (NASB):  Ephesians 6: 10 - 18:
10: Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of His might.

11: Put on the full armor of God, that you may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.  (schemes = craftiness)

12: For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

13: Therefore, take up the full armor of God, that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.

14: Stand firm, therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,

15: and having shod your feet with the preparation of the Gospel of Peace;

16: in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming missiles of the evil one.

17: And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18: With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,

DISCUSSION: The first thing that I notice about this blend of Scriptures is that not once, but twice are we told to “BE STRONG in the Lord,” that we are fighting the dark forces of the evil one, and we must wear ARMOR OF GOD to avoid evil schemes.

The soldier’s armor gives us the image of a traditional Roman centurion soldier. But in the Old Testament (which predates the Roman Republic and its legion of armies), the “helmet of Salvation” and the “breastplate of righteousness” are described in Isaiah 59:17.

We need this armor to fight demons. Demons and their powers are a separate subject in themselves. For now, let us accept the fact that demons exist and we are told and instructed on how to protect ourselves from them.

The gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and the Book of Acts discuss the topic of demons.

Traditionally, most churches teach that the blood of Christ defeated death, sin, and all things such as fallen angels and the Devil himself.

Christ practiced exorcism when He cast demons off a person and put them into pigs, who then ran off a cliff and into the waters below.

And the early church practiced exorcism by the laying on of hands, prayer, and oil (Mark 6:13). Others simply use the “name of Jesus” and the “anointing power of the blood of Jesus” to use authority to drive out demons.

What we are talking about here is a way of life. It is a way of speaking life into your life. The devil wants you to say, “Oh, I feel so sick.” “Oh, I’m going to die.” “Oh, my head hurts so bad.”

Instead, the blood of Jesus and the bloody whipping of His back (By His stripes, we are healed) ‘paid the price’ for our healing and defeated sin and evil demons, so it is our right and our entitlement to say,

“In Jesus’ name, I am healed by His mighty blood!” “Praise you, Jesus!” “Praise You, God!” “By His stripes, I am healed!” “Nothing will harm me.” “Thank you for my healing, Jesus!”

You can see how much power your words have.

You can see how much your beliefs influence your words.

You can see how your words can lead to life or to death.

“Respond, do not React.” How many times have we talked about this in previous Sermons? This is a Way of Life for Christians.

In the book of Luke, Chapter 10, Verse 19, Christ Himself says, “Behold, I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall injure you.”

Personally, I do not think that means we should play with poisonous snakes during a Sermon, but if a snake accidentally bit us, I believe we could use our faith and the Laying on of Hands to recover fully and miraculously.

This is powerful. We have supremacy and victory over demons. Amen! Our Almighty God is our Father, and He knows how to take care of His children.  So be confident in the Lord, knowing that The Father has already made all provisions for His children. For us.

For Daily Intercessory Prayer, STRONG prayers, I encourage you to listen to and memorize a host of prayers valuable for victory, protection, blessings, and binding evil spirits, put forth by Fitz Houston. I will post 4 videos of these positive, commanding prayers.

Here are excerpts from Powerful Prayers #1:
“I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.”
Philippians 4:13

“My God shall supply all my need, according to His riches and glory by Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:19

“All things are possible to him that believeth.”
Mark 9:23

“Believing in your word, I commit to trusting you, Lord, with all my heart and lean not to my own understanding. In all my ways, I acknowledge you and know that you will direct my path.”
Proverbs 3:5-6

I believe that our Words have the most “sting,” the most “power” in fighting evil. If we are also wearing our ARMOR OF GOD, we will have the firey darts of the enemy simply fall off us. Let us see what our fighting gear is made of, so that we know what we have, and most importantly, we know what we have to FIGHT WITH, and how to DEFEND OURSELVES.

THE “FULL ARMOR OF GOD”, used against the demonic hosts of Satan, who are always assembled for mortal combat. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood...

1. Truth: girds your loins;

2. Righteousness: is your breastplate;

3. Preparation of the Gospel of Peace: shods your feet;

4. Faith: is your shield; it will allow you to extinguish all the flaming missiles of the evil one;

5. Salvation: is your helmet;

6. The word of God: the sword of the Spirit. Note that this is the only offensive weapon. All the others are defensive.

Additionally, in Hebrews 4:12, we read, “For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

Psalm 149:6 says, “Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, And a two-edged sword in their hand.”
There are other Scriptures that refer to the “FULL ARMOR” of God:

THE “FULL ARMOR” OF GOD:
1. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.
Ephesians 6:11

2. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.
Ephesians 6:13)

So, brothers and sisters in Christ, let us get used to speaking the way that God wants us to speak. Let us get used to thinking the way that God wants us to think.

If we watch what we say, and make sure that it edifies God, and we are also wearing His armor, and our Sword is sharp and we know Scripture from memory, then we should be golden, and we should be acting within God’s will.

Let us start anew, to bring glory to God, even in the storms of life. Even when we feel like we are being tortured with pain, or stretched beyond all reasonable expectations, and even if it feels like we have our lives filled with one catastrophe after another, let us

LIVE THE WORD OF GOD:  talk the talk, walk the walk, and fight the GOOD FIGHT for Jesus, our King! God knows our hearts and He is always with us, whether or not it “feels” like it.

PREPARATION FOR HOLY COMMUNION:
We will take Holy Communion today, in Remembrance of Christ's death for our sins. Please have unleavened bread or regular bread or tortillas ready; please also have red wine, red grape juice, or water ready. We will ALL PARTAKE TOGETHER as we meet together to remember His DEATH. Amen!
(For a full study on Holy Communion, please see notes at bottom)

Our God has just begun to work in us! Amen!  Let us listen to the Word of God:

PRAYER REQUESTS:  Lord, bless all who are depressed or thinking of suicide, that they have clear knowledge in their hearts that You know the number of hairs on their head, and You have their names written on Your Hand. They are not alone. They have never been alone. Let that sink in, dear Lord. Give them hope, love, healing, rest, and your peace. Send them to us for comfort and strength. Amen.

GATHER TOGETHER GOODS FOR HOLY COMMUNION: Please gather together your bread and wine, as the body and blood of Christ, which He asked us to do when we gather in His name. We do this in remembrance of Him. Go ahead and gather your items now, but hold on to them until after our Tithes & Offerings.

DONATIONS and NEEDS:  We are stocking the pantry for Pastor Steven Mwesigwa in Kampala, Uganda, as God is meeting the needs of the orphans there. Help us to help others as you lead, dear Lord. To donate, please talk on FB to Steven Mwesigwa directly.

GO PUT YOUR FUNDS IN A SHOEBOX OR A JAR:  Save your pennies and give once/month, or once/3 months, if you can. This is your time to go sock it away. Do this happily!

TITHES & OFFERINGS: Remember that God loves a cheerful giver! God asks for the first 10% of your labor, and in return, He blesses you in return. If you can, go to Steven Mwesiwa’s FB and send him a message and see how much money you can commit to His service for the orphans per month. Commit yourself and adopt a child, if you would like. I myself have adopted two orphans, and have been caring for them for several years. I know that God sees my obedience as a cheerful giver, and this is where my tithes go. As the songs play, listen and hear what God tells you to do:

TAKING OF HOLY COMMUNION:
BEFORE HOLY COMMUNION, YOU MUST MEET THESE CRITERIA.  And if you don’t, it is ok. Just sit this one out & talk to us at Service’s ending. We are here for you:

1.   Be a Born Again Christian (stay at service’s end for this)

2.   Confess your Sins to God;

3.   Forgive if you have anything against anyone;

TAKE COMMUNION: As Christ wanted us to do:
In Remembrance of His death.
WAIT FOR ALL OF US TO DO THIS TOGETHER AT ONCE

HOLY COMMUNION: Before we partake in Holy Communion, we assure that we are:
(1)        Born Again, and that
(2)        We harbor no ill feelings towards another (i.e., we have forgiven);
(3)        We plan to be Baptized in Water by immersion, as we die to ourselves while under the water, and become alive to Christ as we are raised from the water to breathe anew. We tell someone of this new life, to solidify and seal our fate as a Christian. Amen.

PREPARATION FOR HOLY COMMUNION:
SAY THE “OUR FATHER”, AS CHRIST TAUGHT US TO PRAY:
Let us take Holy Communion together, after saying the Our Father, as Jesus told us to pray together:

THE OUR FATHER
Our Father, Who art in Heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy Will be done,
On earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory.
Forever and ever. Amen.

BEFORE COMMUNION SONGS:

9.      1 Corinthians 11:23-26
Take Eat, This is My Body
By Esther Mui

10. “In Remembrance of Me”
By Cheri Keaggy

TOGETHER WE PARTAKE IN HOLY COMMUNION:
We proceed with Holy Communion, in Remembrance of Christ’s death:

TAKING THE BODY: We break off the bread, eat it as His Body, and remember His death for us. Amen. As we chew it and swallow it, it cleanses our bodies and our souls. (Eat the bread.)

TAKING THE BLOOD: We drink the wine that signifies His blood, for the shedding of all sins, as Christ died and took our place for us on The Cross. (Drink the wine.)

You may sit or kneel after taking Holy Communion, remembering Christ’s death for you. Christ does not want us to forget it. God is a forgiving God full of love and mercy for us, and He left the sacrifice of His only Son, Jesus Christ, as the Way, the Truth, and the Light. Close your eyes and feel your body being rejuvenated by the Power of the Holy Spirit!

 IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO STAY FOR ME OR ANOTHER TO PRAY WITH YOU SO THAT YOU MAY BECOME BORN AGAIN, PLEASE STAY WITH US SO THE HEAVENS CAN OPEN UP TO ACCEPT YOU!

CLOSING SONG:
“Lord, I Lift Your Name on High”
By SonicFlood

CLOSING PRAYER: Praise Your Name, dear Jesus, and thanks be to you, Holy Father, for letting us live in a place where we can worship and glorify your name on High!

Thank you for forgiving my sins, help me to forgive others, teach me to love my enemies, and let my soul sing your praises day and night!

Help me to watch the words that come out of my mouth. Let me proudly wear the Armor of God, and swing my Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God, as I continue to memorize Scriptures and apply them to my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

DISMISSAL: Go now in preparation for the spiritual war that surrounds us. Use your protective Armor of God, but sharpen your double-edged Sword so that the word of God simply rolls out of it in every circumstance. God has provided THE WAY! Let us rejoice, be glad in it, and USE IT! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

THE GREAT COMMISSION: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, help spread The Word to all nations. Go as a missionary. Support a mission. Feed the orphans and the widows. Follow Christ’s commands. Amen.

Glorify God in all that you do, whether you are on top of the mountain, or are in the bottom of the pit! Don't let anything stop your Praises from leaving your lips! Go now, listening to each word that you speak! Speak LIFE! Speak the Word of God into your life! Amen~

FORGIVENESS & SALVATION TO BE BORN AGAIN:
To be “born again,” please note the PLAN OF SALVATION:
1.   All have sinned. (Romans 3:23; 1 John 1:8)
2.   There is a penalty for sin (Romans 6:23; John 3:18)
3.   You cannot save yourself (Titus 3:5; James 2:10)
4.   Salvation has been provided (Ephesians 2:8-9; John 3:16; John 14:6)
5.   The conditions are simple:    A. Repent (Luke 13:3); B Confess (1 John 1:9; Romans 10:9); C. Believe (Acts 16:31)
6.   Now is your time for a Decision (Joshua 24:15; 2 Corinth 6:2)

Do you repent for your sins?
Do you confess your sins to the Lord?
Do you accept the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God, into your heart?

If you answer “yes” to all these questions, you are now a Born Again Christian! We love you! Welcome to the body of Christ! Confess it with your mouth, or write it here! You must say it out loud! Praise the Lord!

Go now, and Spread the Word of God to all the Ends of the Earth!
